Image Editor

Prepare project images and annotate screenshots without leaving your JetBrains IDE. Crop and resize assets, edit text and shapes on the canvas, and export favicons or web/app icons.

Free: image viewing, file thumbnails, zoom, fit, pan, transparency grid and RGBA pixel inspection.

License or trial required: all image editing, saving changes, export and developer presets.

• Prepare assets: crop to exact coordinates, resize with aspect ratio lock, choose smooth or nearest-neighbor scaling, rotate and flip.
• Annotate screenshots: add brush strokes, lines, rectangles, ellipses, text and opaque covers. Select, move, resize, recolor or delete annotations; double-click text to edit it in place.
• Export copies: PNG, JPEG or WebP with quality, transparency and background controls. Preview favicon ICO, Apple touch, PWA, UI icon and avatar presets before choosing a destination.
• Work with IDE controls: native toolbar, light/dark icons, keyboard customization, and Undo/Redo using your IDE keymap.
• Keep work recoverable: automatic in-place saving, visible save failures, external-change protection and local recovery drafts.

Formats: PNG, JPEG, BMP, static WebP and single-page TIFF are editable when the required runtime codec is available. GIF, animated PNG/WebP, multi-page TIFF and ICO are view-only; export their raster preview to edit a copy. JPEG aliases JPE/JFIF and the APNG extension are recognized. SVG, AVIF, HEIC and layered documents are not supported.

Before editing: changes save to the open file, so use a working copy to keep the original unchanged. Saved, exported and recovered images contain flattened pixels; editable annotations and Undo history last only while the editor remains open. Metadata such as EXIF and color profiles may not be preserved. Inputs are limited to 48 MiB and 32 megapixels.

Requires IDE 2025.2 or newer with supported JCEF. Install the plugin, open an image in the editor, and use Activate Image Editor… in the toolbar to manage a license or trial.
